This is my thesis project from 2017-2018, which explored creating an up-cycled collection of lighting fixtures

  • Every lifestyle accessory project has a very hands-on process of iterating.

  • I explored different natural binders to be able to create something from paper waste, that was strong yet pliable enough

  • It also needed to be resilient to energy coming from light bulbs and be non toxic, pest free and long lasting

  • I was inspired from papier mache but took a slightly different approach by mixing algae and xanthan gum

  • This created my material paperclay which was as hard as cement when dried up but when moist you could shape it like clay

  • Hand-drawn sketches and scaled-down mockups

  • This gives a sense of how the product will look in the intended surrounding, and what kind of detailing needs to go in and helps create a precursor to a technical specification sheet

Capturing the essence of the Noori Collection- Radiant, welcoming, and cozy.
